Eurobites: Vodafone on M&A Alert

Vodafone Group plc has used an investor conference in New York to confirm that it is still very much on the M&A trail in Europe, with a bid for Liberty Global Inc. 's European operations possibly forming part of the picture, reports the Daily Telegraph . Buying Liberty Global would hand control of UK cable operator Virgin Media Inc. to Vodafone, which would give the mobile giant a way in to the British TV and broadband markets.

Kasabian Play Intimate London Show For Charity

British rockers Kasabian played an intimate show in London on Tuesday night to raise money for a homeless charity. The band performed a stripped back set at the tiny Mode venue in west London for a crowd including Scrubs star Zach Braff, with ticket sales bringing in funds for Shelter, an organisation which fights homelessness in the U.K. The show, backed by Britain's Absolute Radio, featured hits including Bumblebeee, L.S.F. and a cover of Fatboy Slim's Praise You.

Liberty Global: 'We won't build on ITV stake'

Following 21st Century Fox CEO Chase Carey's assertion that it was not planning to acquire UK commercial Public Service Broadcaster ITV, Jim Ryan, Senior Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer, Liberty Global, has said that the cable MSO was not planning to build on the 6.4 per cent stake in the pubcaster it acquired from BSkyB mid-July 2014. He said that Liberty Global had always seen investment in content as an ancillary business to its distribution operations, where scale was "absolutely key".
