The annual 'Employee Job Satisfaction and Retention Survey' finds 'that confidence is unwarranted,' according to survey sponsor Salary.com.
Nearly two-thirds of employers responding to the newly released survey felt they were 'somewhat perceptive' and about one-fourth felt they were 'highly perceptive' about employee satisfaction.
But, Salary.com found, employers are vastly underestimating one measure of employee dissatisfaction: Job searching while on the job. The survey found that far more workers were surfing online job postings, updating their resumes, reading classified ads, sending out resumes and networking with others than the employers believed.
