Sara Lee 3Q profit rises on price increases, weaker dollar
Sara Lee Corporation says its third-quarter profit doubled, as price increases and the weaker dollar's effect on international sales helped offset volatile commodity prices.
The Downers Grove, Ill.-based food and personal care products maker said Tuesday it earned $234 million, or 30 cents per share, from $116 million, or 16 cents per share, a year ago. Adjusted earnings climbed to 22 cents per share from 13 cents per share.
Sales for the maker of frozen cheesecakes and Ball Park hot dogs rose 10 percent to $3.24 billion from $2.94 billion. Read more
