A worker who died of injuries suffered at an oil rig near Platteville was crushed by a flatbed truck backing up to load equipment, said Christine Corrigan of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration Denver area office.

Christopher Clark, 26, of Platteville, was directing as a truck backed up a ramp when he was crushed between the truck and a platform Thursday at the Patterson-UTI Energy Inc. rig, officials said.

An autopsy Friday determined he was struck in his lower chest and suffered damage to major organs, including a ruptured aorta, said Weld County Deputy Coroner Mark Ward. The death was ruled an accident. Read more
