West Texas 'clean coal' plant gets $350 million federal grant

By JACK Z. SMITH A proposed $1.7 billion 'clean coal' plant to be built by Summit Power in West Texas has been awarded a $350 million federal grant, the U.S. Energy Department announced Friday.The 400-megawatt plant would generate a net 245 megawatts of electricity to the power grid, enough to supply about 245,000 homes.
