American Savings Bank CEO not concerned about hypothetical spinoff talks

American Savings Bank President and CEO Richard Wacker says any talk of spinning the bank from its parent, Hawaiian Electric Industries, is too hypothetical. Although the plan did not go through, when talk of buying HEI comes up from politicians and others, American Savings Bank always seems to get cut from the picture - even if a sale of Hawaii's third largest bank would be difficult .

Hawaiian Electric Industries Inc. said Wednesday that Alan Oshima, a veteran utility and telecommunications executive, has been named president and CEO of its Hawaiian Electric Co. subsidiary, effective Oct. 1. "Alan brings extensive energy industry experience, a real passion for moving Hawaii to a clean energy future, and a proven ability to bring people together to work collaboratively for needed change," Connie Lau , chairman of the board for Hawaiian Electric Co.

Hawaiian Electric strikes deal with Canada's largest private utility

Hawaiian Electric Co. has reached an agreement with a subsidiary of Canada's largest private utility to undergo a key liquefied natural gas process that could help lower its customers' bills, a spokesman for the Honolulu-based utility told PBN.
