Well, it's no suprise to me and I'll tell you why;

The SEC would not approve the full sell out to Cerbrus so GM had to hang on to the controlling share. The *biggest* hindrance to GM closing A LOT of production/assembly facilities in the U.S. would have been that they, GM/GMAC also holds the notes on those workers' homes. This is actually a case where our folks in Washington did not have their heads up their rear ends. So, Detroit/GM waited for the Gov't bailout of the mortgage industry, like the S&L bailouts in the 80s. THAT was a no-go. Soooo....

What we'll see now, as in this case, is a simple shift of paperwork to make the "cost of operation" another write-off that we the taxpayers pick up the tab on. White collar crime does pay-in this case about $2.3 Billion tab we the taxpayers will pick up. Too bad, but that's how George II and Dick run the country into the ground!!
