Frontier to install vacuum tower

The culmination of a two-year, $146 million construction project at the Frontier Refinery will begin Friday morning.
That's when the refinery's crude oil intake unit will shut down for 38 days to complete periodic maintenance and tie in a new vacuum tower. Periodic teardown for inspection and maintenance, called 'turnaround' in the industry, must be done when refinery units are not running.
'It's typically very hard work, with employees working seven days a week and often 12 hours a day,' said plant manager Jim Stump. Read more
