It is my understanding that the lack of availability of the Armour thyroid is due to inadequate supply of the desiccated thyroid needed in the formulation of the tablets. I am having difficulty understanding why that problem has continued for such a long period of time. I switched to Nature-throid for my last refill, and was told today at my pharmacy that the Nature-throid is on a 75-day back order. The pharmacist stated I could contact my doctor and ask that my prescription be changed to Synthroid. No way is that going to happen.I was on Synthroid for 12 years with no apparent benefit. I also have to say that in the past few months, I have had a return of some hypothyroid symptoms which I suspect is related to the reformulation of the Armour thyroid. I am so angry about all this, particularly the failure of Forrest Pharmaceuticals to inform patients of the situation. At this point, I wonder how many customers Armour thyroid will lose as a result of their poor consumer relations. There are other alternatives. At least when I contacted the manufacturer of the Nature-throid I was connected to a real, live person who offered some information and a possible solution. I did contact a local compounding pharmacy and they do have the Nature-throid in stock so will be able to obtain my supply at this time. But what about the next refill??? It's not like the thyroid replacement is something I can do without.

My Dr. prescribed - L-Thyroxine - I have yet to fill the script as I really do not want to take synthetic. I'm trying to locate Nature-Throid in/around Fort Worth Texas.
