City rejects opportunity to buy electricity from Texas company
“All financing for the project is in place.”
City officials on Monday rejected an offer by a Texas-based energy company to sell electricity to Southern Montana Electric, which faces financing hurdles in its effort to build a coal-fired power plant to generate its own power.
Houston-based Montgomery Energy plans to begin construction on a 275-megawatt natural-gas fired power plant north of Great Falls by this summer. The company hopes to sell power from that facility to SME, which is made up of the city of Great Falls and five rural electric cooperatives. Read more
