The powerful thunderstorms that rocked the metro area on Tuesday afternoon weren't as strong or prolonged as the Aug. 11 storms that soaked the metro area with up to 6 inches of rain, but they still had an impact.
Due to the high winds and lightning that were part of the storm, including wind gusts of up to 60 miles per hour, Livingston County has approximately 2,000 customers without service.
Severe thunderstorms have hit parts of southern Michigan, bringing 60 mile-per-hour wind gusts that knocked down trees and power lines and blacked out about 169,000 electricity customers.
More than 45,000 DTE Energy customers are without power as strong storms continue to sweep through metro Detroit Tuesday evening, bringing strong wind gusts and heavy rain.
Update at 5:45 p.m. : DTE Spokeswoman Erica Donerson said that the company estimates there are approximately 6,000 customers in Washtenaw County without power.
DTE Energy COO Steven E. Kurmas unloaded 10,000 shares of DTE Energy stock on the open market in a transaction dated Thursday, August 21st.
