5 out-of-state gun dealers settle with NYC

Five out-of-state gun dealers sued by New York City have agreed to submit to independent monitors as part of a settlement.

The city sued dozens of gun dealers in 2006 to stem the tide of illegal out-of-state guns, many of which were used in crimes.

New York City said on Friday that the gun dealers in Georgia, Pennsylvania, Ohio and South Carolina also agreed to additional training for their employees to ensure legal firearm sales.

The agreements announced Friday will expire after three consecutive years if the gun dealers don't have a reported violation. Read more
