Layton, NDP thinking of court action to block Radarsat sale to U.S. firm
“It would have to be (done) in a very timely way.”
- NDP Leader Jack Layton says his party could go to court to try to block the Conservative government from approving the sale of a key corporate part of the aerospace industry to U.S. interests.
"What we're doing is surveying all of the arguments and instruments that are available," Layton said in an interview Sunday.
The main option being explored is whether it's possible to obtain a prohibition order from the courts that would prevent Ottawa - at least temporarily - from giving the go-ahead for the sale of the space technology division of Vancouver-based MacDonald, Detwiler and Associates. Read more
