The University of Texas at Tyler Honors Program and Global Awareness Through Education Program will present a lecture by renowned women's studies educator and multiculturalism activist Dr. Peggy McIntosh. Dr. McIntosh is the associate director of the Wellesley Centers for Women at Wellesley College in Massachusetts.

Poverty-obesity link is more prevalent for women than men, study shows

Adolescent girls living in economically disadvantaged families are more likely than their male counterparts to become overweight or obese, according to new research from The University of Texas at Austin. The study, published online this month in the Journal of Health and Social Behavior , shows long-lasting consequences of economic hardship in childhood for the risk of obesity in adulthood.

Students put on edge after possible threat to Trinity College

Students at Trinity College say they were put on edge Thursday when they became aware that someone may have made a threat against this campus community. "I think there was definitely a feeling that like it was 9/11 and people tried to associate things like that," said student, Doug Curtin.

"How many do I have to take again?" This question and many others surround Duke's foreign language requirement. Currently, Trinity College of Arts and Sciences students are required to take one to three courses in a foreign language depending on prior experience.


Colm fellowship

The fellowship will help the college further develop its research into Motor Neuron Disease by enabling a post-graduate student to complete research and training in neurology. Professor of Neurology in Trinity College Orla Hardiman said the fellowship has been awarded to Parames Iyer, a clinical neurologist doing his PhD in Trinity.

Dad-of-three is elected as the new bishop for Limerick

Canon Kearon is Secretary General of the Anglican Communion and succeeds the Right Revd Trevor Williams who retired in July. Born in Dublin , Canon Kearon was educated at Trinity College , Dublin, and served as curate in All Saints Raheny and St John's Coolock, before he returned to Trinity College as the university's Dean of Residence in 19 84. He later served as Rector of the Parish of Tullow between 1991 and 1999 after which he became Director of the Irish School of Ecumenics .
