COLLEGE NEWS Cornell College MOUNT VERNON, Iowa - Alexis Badgett, of Canal Winchester, has been accepted to Cornell College, a private liberal arts college in Mount Vernon, Iowa, and has earned the Dean's Scholarship. Ohio University ATHENS - Leah Wilson, of Lancaster, is one of 20 first-year students accepted into Ohio University's inaugural class of Margaret Boyd Scholars. The Margaret Boyd Scholars program is Ohio University's first women's scholars program, named in honor of the university's first female graduate in 1873. University of Findlay FINDLAY - Jennifer Starcher, a junior animal science major, recently performed in the University of Findlay's Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble concert, "A Christmas Festival." Starcher, a 2011 graduate of Amanda Clearcreek High School, is the daughter of Patricia and Anthony Starcher, of Amanda.

Perkins repeats she's leaving school board for family reasons
During her final Columbus school-board meeting last night, Carol Perkins attempted to dampen speculation that she is leaving the board under pressure from the mayor or because a state audit into data rigging is to be released next week.
