The New Mexico Museum of Indian Arts and Culture has hired a member of Oklahoma's Otoe-Missouria Tribe as its new director.

With this award, he will purchase a loom and supplies to focus on weaving a Chilkat style robe.

Calm Waters will be a featured artist at the Heritage Keepers Art Show at the Dorothy Ramon Learning Center in Banning on June 1. In 1998, Calm Waters completed more than five years of military service and returned to the Soboba Reservation, where he spent time with tribal elders to reconnect with his language and the culture of his tribe.
