Full story: Fox News

Good old Charlie R....doesn't pay his taxes, but is allowed to continue to write tax law for the United States. What is wrong with this picture?

How about if Charlie pays his taxes AND steps down and resigns from congress! Now that's a plan I can vote for! Maybe a little prison time to sweeten the deal!
What is wrong with the state that keeps electing this criminal?

Good Morning Cat, I agree with an addition of criminal charges and jail time as well. Also, don't blame it on the people of the state. The Lib party throws so much money into campaigning there, that's the problem.

And what about Ensign. Doesn't he deserve equal time? Look at all he has done that is illegal. Yet, have they asked him to step down. I don't blame that on the republicans for Ensign and C Street, as you shouldn't blame Democrats for Charlie.

There will be a cause and effect with Pelosi's action on Rangel. Folks in California are slowly rounding into some intelligence decisions. She will be gone with the next election. Only problem is there could be a clone taking her place, but withour senority.

And don't forget, Charlie is black and serves the 15th district...the middle of black harlem. Now, you can call me a racist, but I taught and lived in black harlem for a year. Charlie is a big hit there as he throws the people bones!

how in the world do you simply "forget" about multiple homes and bank accounts with hundreds of thousands of dollars in them? for regular citizens, this would be called criminal fraud. i guess for congress, this would be called "standard practice".

Because this is about Rangel. He is chairman of the house ways and means committe. I blame the dems that defend him.

I won't call you a racist-rather a realist. I spent part of the 70's and 80' in Harlem. It was bad back then. If they send him to jail we won't have to worry about him anymore.

Look at the do nothing dumocraps. What was that Pelosi, the most ethical congress ever while on your watch?

The New York Times reported on September 5, 2008, that,“Representative Charles B. Rangel has earned more than $75,000 in rental income from a villa he has owned in the Dominican Republic since 1988, but never reported it on his federal or state tax returns, according to a lawyer for the congressman and documents from the resort.”

The New York Times reported on September 6, 2008 that,“Representative Charles B. Rangel paid no interest for more than a decade on a mortgage extended to him to buy a villa at a beachfront resort in the Dominican Republic, according to Mr. Rangel’s lawyer and records from the resort. The loan, which was extended to Mr. Rangel in 1988, was originally to be paid back over seven years at a rate of 10.5 percent. But within two years, interest on the loan was waived for Mr. Rangel.”

The New York Times reported on November 24, 2008 that,“Congressional records and interviews show that Mr. Rangel was instrumental in preserving a lucrative tax loophole that benefited Nabors Industries an oil drilling company last year, while at the same time its chief executive was pledging $1 million to the Charles B. Rangel School of Public Service at C.C.N.Y.”

Unpaid taxes, violation of the gift ban, failure to disclose gifts in his personal income tax filings, and the list goes on. Status quo for the dumocraps in Congress.

No. I'm saying the article is about Rangel. Looks like you can only point out others bad behavior as his defence. Anyway, as far as Ensign goes, he had an affair. Big deal. It's only ok for democrat presidents to do that? And any inappropriate actions with Hampton are being looked into last I heard. It's not like he had $90,000 stuffed in his freezer.

Willoughby2,

Get off your high horse. Start a topic about Ensign, and I'll be the first to condemn and call for reprimands. This topic is about Rangel. I don't care whether the official is Dem or Repub. If they have broken the law, they should be removed from office and appear before a court of law. Are you happy now?
