Interesting that offices and departments in southern Fairfield County are not being closed. Is it that these cuts can not be made or perhaps it is the political makeup of the area?
The burden of cuts needs to be shared equally across the board. Cuts that are made need to make sense. Closing a technical school would not seem to fall into those criteria.
This process should not be a 10 round boxing championship. Both sides need to work on a fair budget.

Geragosian is a blowhard. So far, all he's said is we can't cut anything - we can't possibly cut the bloated waste known as state government. We can't afford it but hey, spend it anyway is Geragosian's model. As for not cutting jobs in a down economy, funny thing, Geragosian, every company does it, non-profits do it, city governments do it. And finally, sir, it's ironic you talk about not wanting to cut jobs, what jobs, other than government jobs, have you actually created in the last decade? Any? Name one? Most likely, NONE.

Let the lines begin. I agree with "enough already" close a DMV office in Fairfield county. A courthouse in Danielson but I don't want to see any schools closes. God knows, people are more illiterate today than they were 20 years ago.

How about we just close all the DMV offices.

What are the metrics for this Technical School. How many graduate, how many get a job for 12+ months, how many graduates are still in the state? Let's see the true value of the school before we decide either way what to do with it. My guess is that none of these things are measured.

I have lived in Connecticut and Virginia and there is far less need to go to the DMV these days. Virginia handles most of this online and through the gas stations so you avoid the lines and the wasted time. As a result when you have to go in person, its not that bad and they have fewer centers now.

There are sensible ways to cut the state budget and consolidation of the DMV is one that makes sense if it’s combined with better use of the agency's website.

The Democrats need to start focusing on cutting the budget where it makes sense instead of just passing tax increases.

One can understand legislators wanting to protect their constituents and maybe these folks have a point. But more to the point, they have a responsibility not just to oppose the Governor's suggestions but also to suggest alternatives to save just a much money. They still don;t get it - the State must cut spending and if you don;t like one idea, give us an alternative.

Faifield County paid all the bills for the state (look at the income tax collections county by county).
