Distracted? Try not paying attention. Those trucks are so big, loud and have that annoying backup alarm to not be noticed. Must have been one hell of an in-depth conversation to not notice the truck.

Here come the new law to increase your taxes... You wait.. Some jerky Poly head is already practicing his introduction to the law to politicize this incident... Something that you read once every 100 years ...

How in the hell do you not see or hear a garbage truck? Maybe if we didn't walk around with a freakin cell phones or ipods stuck in our ears 24/7 we would actually know what is going on around us, instead of being trapped in our little tiny self-important insignificant lives. No one to blame for this one but the morons not paying attention. Good riddance, one less stupid person breathing my air...
Ed, how can you say such mean nasty things about such a bright intelligent person who was most likely turning her life around (we‘ll hear that later)?
I think we both need to realize that people have every right to use their iPods and cell phones 24/7 and it’s up to everyone else to look out for them and guarantee their safety. That truck had no right to be on the road or in a lot collecting garbage when someone wants to stand there and talk. People are no longer required to pay attention or walk on sidewalks.
Now, if you’ll excuse me, I need to go out for a while and get a few things. Don’t worry, I’ll be driving on the sidewalk to leave the road open for pedestrians.

I think it starts when kids are very young.
Parents teach them that they can ride their bikes and play in the road because cars are supposed to stop for them. Then when a tragedy occurs, it's the driver's fault. Newsflash: other people exist.

When I was young I was taught to look both ways and pay attention to what is going on around you. How do you not see a garage truck as big as they are? Nobody deserves to be killed this way. But for crying out loud PAY ATTENTION. I feel sorry for the driver this certainly was not his fault.

Cops: Students talking, totally friggin' clueless before fatal accident.
It's sad and funny that some are just so lost in their own little world they can stand in the path of a garbage truck.
