Chicoan named Miss Black California

HMM, do we have a ms red cali, ms yellow cali, ms brown cali, ms white cali? How about a ms green cali and a ms gay cali?
I can hear the outcrys if we had a ms white cali.
Why do we even have these stupid contests in the first place?

I think it is totally racist to have a Miss Black anything. It is this type of thing that keeps racism alive in America. This and Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton, who make their living keeping racism alive.

I am a very liberal guy and fight in my everyday life for ratial and sexual equality. This is what I don't understand. If there were a pagent for white people only there would be protests and the pagent would be shut down. Why is it okay to have a black only pagent? The best way to stop racism is to stop racism.

there is nothing wrong with it, white(especially white men) control the beauty industry and consiter black women ugly, so I think there should be a beauty contest for black women. This has nothing to do with al sharpton and jesse jackson, stop changing the subject. Both of you are white, don't get it and have never been in a black womens shoes. if you don't like it then shut your mouth and walk on. people like you also are the reason racism still goes on in america

This woman's answer is the reason racism is alive and well in California. Ohio blacks are as white as whites are in California. But Black people in Chico are like FIRST GENERATION RICH people, and by that I mean they are trying to hard to prove to all others that they are FREE BLACK or RICH.

When people like this poster starts to act like a human being then they will be treated as a human being. This Miss Black Califoria is trying to become a better person thru her education and this is a added benifit for her. Congratulations.

I think their should be black beauty contest, if you don't like it get out of the african american forum trolls. You guys can bring whatever politics you want but I think it should continue for all little black girls out there

I applaud Tara Dale Sanders for her win! I also think that she is a great student and for that I applaud as well. But, I don't like the answer by "Sugar" about the White males being in charge of the Ms USA pageant. That's not the reason there is a Ms Black America Pageant. If that is the case then why is there a magazine strictly for blacks? Is it because white men own that as well and won't let black people or any other race in? What about BET? Because the white man wont allow black people to be on there TV? That excuse is horrible. It's just like sports. 80% of people in the NBA are black but, there is a rule out that now there needs to be 50%+ black coaches. And so on.. I understand that there is racial issues in this country still for every race. But, this separation contests,magazines,tv stations,etc... is helping fuel the fire!

I'm not going to get into a debate with you, I think black beauty contest should stay. You and me can have differences of opinions and respect each other. As far as I'm concerned it will never stop, whether we like it or not. Most of you guys could care less if all black women were burned to death, or consiter black women beautiful, so why are you getting heated over this topic, baffles me. leave the issue alone

Ummm...Sugar, if white (especially white men as you say) consider black women ugly, then how did Ms. Sanders manage to not only enter but WIN both Miss Teen California and Miss Teen American? She would have entered the Miss California pageant but was too old by the time she could have entered because of spending time with her ill mom. No disrespect to Tara personally whatsoever, but it sort of seems to me you can't have it both ways. Having a Miss Black California competition gives black women who desire to compete in pageants one more opportunity that white women or women of any other ethnicity don't have. I mean, go ahead and HAVE a Miss Black California competition, But if you're going to do that for the reason you mentioned Sugar, or any other reason, then there should be able to be a Miss White California as well (along with every other ethnicity). That is, in addition to just plain Miss California. But of course we know that isn't going to happen with respect to a Miss White California because somehow THAT'S racist, but conducting a Miss Black California pageant is not apparently.

Can anyone remember when the Miss America, The Miss USA pageant was white only. So whites want to call blacks racist because the started their own pageant since they were shut out of white only pageants.

There have been 7 AA winners of the Miss America pageant. Guess it's you and your ilk who still see color when looking at a person. For the most part, the rest of us judge character.

you are right there should be white, asian, and hispanic only contest. So at least everything can be equal. I'm not stopping white from having their own, why not. I never mentioned it was racist, if white had their own, to tell you the truth I could care less. Every community should have their own beauty contest in america now.

every community in america should have their own beauty contest. whites have their own, asians have their own, latinos have their own(excluding black hispanics), and blacks shoulds have their own. black women are consitered ugly to most non blacks, except and move on.

Us "crackers" got culture. I'm tired of the reverse racism as well. It's sad that we forget our heritage and then get upset that others don't. That's what's wrong with white kids these days. Many can't tell you what their surname means or where it's from.
