What's happening around Florida the week of May 18: Zellwood -- In Zellwood, residents say you haven't lived until you've tasted sweet corn served up hot and buttery.
An opportunity to try it is during the 35th annual Zellwood Sweet Corn Festival May 24-25. This family-friendly festival offers entertainment, arts and crafts and amusement rides and is highlighted by 'Big Bertha' cooking some 1,640 ears of corn every nine minutes in 350 gallons of boiling water.
In all, more than 200,000 ears are consumed during the fest that features corn husking and corn eating contests. Among the headliners are Steven Curtis Chapman, John Anderson and Jim Van Fleet.
