Worden father, son charged after fight involving baseball bat
Madison County prosecutors charged a Worden father and son Monday after the two got into a fight Saturday.
William A. Jeffers, 33, was charged with felony aggravated battery. His father, Harry Jeffers, was charged with misdemeanor aggravated assault.
William Jeffers was taken into custody Saturday after he reported an altercation with his 62-year-old father on East Wall Street. The younger Jeffers reported that during the incident, his father swung a baseball bat at him. The elder Jeffers was located at his home on Main Street and taken into custody. Read more

Father and son accused of attempting to steal scrap metal
A father and son are each charged with burglary after attempting to steal scrap metal from the former Chemetco Plant in Hartford.
Michael J. Consiglio Jr., 38, of Worden, and Michael J. Consiglio III, 17, of Granite City were arrested at the plant Friday afternoon by police, who were called to the plant at 3576 Chemetco Lane after a suscipious vehicle was seen.
Both were in custody Friday at Madison County jail. Each suspect's bail was set at $40,000. Read more
