The biggest hurdle in connecting Ankeny to Woodward with a trail - crossing the Des Moines River - recently received a boost from the state.

The annual Woodward Friends and Neighbors Day 5k race kicks off the town's celebration Saturday, July 26, at 8 a.m. at Woodward City Park.
