The last days of the Wild West took place in the late 1800s. This is when the last of the Indian Wars concluded and the last connections were made between the east and the west in the form of telegraph wires and railroad tracks.

The arctic grayling and wolverine, native Montana species, were among the 10 species listed Tuesday as most in need of protection under the Endangered Species Act.

Wolves killed three calves and injured a cow in the Big Hole Valley in recent days, according to a news release from the state Department of Fish, Wildlife and Park.
