By ADAM RUSSELL Staff Writer No discrepancy was found after a recount by Smith County Elections staff Thursday, leaving the ballots in a dead heat, and drying up any chance the city of Winona would become 'wet' anytime soon.

The battle to make Smith County wet is still brewing, or at least, percolating. Members of the Smith County Citizens for Economic Growth formally requested a recount of the May 9th election.

The political action committee responsible for initiating recent local option beverage elections filed for a recount Tuesday in one last effort to make the city of Winona "wet." Andy Osborn filed an official recount request with County Judge Joel Baker and handed over a $70 cashier's check for the recount deposit Tuesday afternoon.
