'It appears, from a glance, that there are more candidates,' Brunswick County Board of Elections Director Greg Bellamy said of the local races.

Tech team gives computers to kids
“It makes a difference. Students can get their homework done. Bruce and his team of computer gurus are priceless. There is no way we could pay anyone to refurbish the computers and get them to the students.”
Bruce Maxwell huddles with Ron Batleman at one computer and, when that glitch is solved, confers with Bud Brown at another. Ed McCarron and Ron Keenan discuss computer repairs in front of a third monitor, while the room hums with whirring and buzzing computer sounds.
Brunswick County high school students are the beneficiaries of these volunteers' efforts. Computers for Kids, Maxwell's brainchild, is the program that provides a computer to students who don't have one at home and don't have the financial resources to get one. Read more
