Windsor's Germaine Everett-Welcome did a little bit of everything for the Warriors in their season-opening 13-6 win over Manchester at Wethersfield High School Saturday night. The 6-foot, 225-pound senior played offensive tackle, had two interceptions, one to seal the game with 30 seconds left, while playing linebacker and rushed for 46 yards on seven carries, including a 12-yard touchdown in the final minute.

The town council Monday will hold a special town meeting for the public to vote on the purchase of two properties for open space for $186,300. The two properties at 703 and 769 Bloomfield Avenue., total about 21 acres, which would cost the town about $8,900 an acre.

Rowland lawyers work to derail feds' case

Foley admitted he reimbursed family members and friends for their contributions to his wife's 5th District Congressional campaign, hired Rowland to work on the campaign and provided five $100,000 checks to his wife, Lisa Wilson-Foley, which he knew she would deposit and contribute to her campaign. Furthermore, Foley admitted before U.S. District Judge Janet Bond Arterton and a 16-member jury that he misled his lawyer, Hubert Santos, in drafting six letters to the U.S. Attorney's office describing his role in this case.

Parents Ask State To Stop Districts' Use Of Slavery Re-Enactment Program

A South Windsor couple, who have said that their daughter and her classmates were terrorized by a slavery re-enactment two years ago, told the state Board of Education this week that they would like to see Connecticut districts stop patronizing the outdoor education program called Nature's Classroom. Sandra Baker told the board to hold school administrators, who authorized Nature's Classroom, "accountable for their lack of curriculum oversight."
