PJM Interconnection called for "more powerlines" because of the so called "energy crisis" and possible future NERC violations by PJM.
In response to this, Allegheny Energy and it's subsidiary (Allegheny Power) teamed up with American Electric Power to propose the PATH project. PATH stands for the Potomac Appalachian Transmission Highline. PJM approved the project. PATH (Potomac Appalachian Transmission Highline) proposes to run a 765 kv high voltage transmission line through 280 miles of rural West Virginia land (mostly through private property). In some places the proposal calls for two 500 kv lines. American Electric Power has been sued by California, Connecticut, Iowa, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, Vermont, Wisconsin, and the City of New York for being a global warming polluter (carbon dioxide emissions). New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and Pennsylvania, have also previously announced plans to sue Allegheny Energy’s for violation of the Clean Air Act (again, because of coal plants and emissions). Allegheny Energy owned one of the dirtiest coal plants in the nation. The Northeast doesnt want this, so why are we being lied to?? |
||||
|
PATH will serve to run cheap and dirty electricity to the northern states. WV receives none of this electricity but we will pay for it in our energy bills and by giving up our land.
The states that PATH will run electricity to do not even want the line. They want to focus on renewable energy or cleaner energy sources because they are downwind of West Virginia and do not want the coal emissions. PATH is simply a scheme for Allegheny Power and American Electric to rip private land from the hands of rural West Virginians under the disguise of "benefiting the nation" so that they can increase revenue. TrAIL and PATH are ploys for Allegheny Power to make easy money on nonrenewable energy at the expense of West Virginia citizens, while the rest of the nation explores and focuses on renewable energy. West Virginia gets 99 percent of electricity from our own coal mines. West Virginia directly uses the energy produced from our coal mines. PATH does not benefit WV. It takes OUR coal to give cheap electricity to other states. West Virginia Citizens will have to PAY for this financially and by giving up land. The other states will pay for this as well because PATH will increase coal emissions that everyone else will have to breathe. It affects everyone. The Obama Administration is a supporter of renewable energy. PATH is a step backward. It does not focus on renewable energy..it will be used for coal. Read this site to see how rural country people will be screwed by big business and how the landscape will be raped and permanently scarred. The scenic beauty is perhaps the only thing that West Virginia can claim. Big business has decided to take it away. |

New Haven
United Illuminating Makes Presentation On Small Business Energy Advantage Program The purpose of the presentation was to identify the fact that we offer a program designed to help customers manage their energy usage and cost simultaneously," O'Connor said. "The SBEA Program is a tool to help small and mid-size businesses help themselves stay in business." Since 2000, the Small Business Program in UI's territory has saved over 810 million lifetime kilowatt hours which equates to avoiding 439,000 tons of carbon dioxide, a statistic that was well received at the event. The Northeast does not want or need PATH.. Full story: http://www.courant.com/community/hc-community... |

Come on people Rally up!!! Help stop these greedy lieing polluters.
If I can get people from CT and MA to sign this petition, SO CAN YOU ALL. How many times can Allegany be sued before they are shut down? My plan is to use as little energy as possible so I dont give them more money. Allegany wants to screw us so I say lets get them back by conserving MORE.. I'd rather be in the dark them let them ruin our land and peoples lives. Fight the power! |

I understand that we don't want transmission lines in our backyard, but I do like having power in my home. Maybe we should write our local reps and tell them to stop development so we won't need more power.

The power is not for us. |

Marylandʼs Energy Future at Risk

TODAY!!!! Rain or shine, we have a demonstration! Gov. Manchin is returning to Jefferson County, for a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the new headquarters for the Convention & Visitors Bureau. Since it's also the first day of the events commemorating John Brown's Raid, there is likely to be many more media representatives on hand. PLEASE show up and participate! There's strength in numbers! And we have an eyecatching gimmick that makes a visual connection to "scalped mountains and clear-cut forests." DETAILS Where: The meadow at the intersection of Route 340 and Washington Street (the stoplight on Harpers Ferry Hill), in front of the new CVB facility (the cedar home). When: Start arriving between 3:30 and 4 p.m.- the governor's ceremony is supposed to be at 4:30. If you can't get there until after 4, come anyhow; the governor runs late! What: Bring your signs, lawn chairs if you want, and YOUR ENTHUSIASM!
