Still Waiting For That Covered Bridge In Andover

Full story: The Hartford Courant

It was the quintessential plan. A quaint covered bridge would cross an old train trestle abutment in Andover so hikers, bicyclists and horseback riders could travel uninterrupted along the Hop River State Park trail west to Manchester or east to Willimantic.

This is the first I've heard of the bridge, but once I heard Andover, Bridge, and Trail, I knew exactly where they were talking. I've passed along that road many times and said to myself "someone should put up a bridge there for the trail." I hope it gets built soon. Half a Mil seems like a lot to build it- it's not that big of a gap. Then again in the scheme of things, it's not all that much money, either. Larger sums are easily wasted by even local governments. Someone step up and build it while they wait on the Echo lawsuit.

The first time my buddy and I biked that far from Manchester we were surpised to come to a dead end with orange fencing. We dismounted, hoofed it down the hill, crossed the street, hoofed it back up, and kept going. I've been doing a lot of letterboxing in that area this past week, and I've seen lots of others do it too. Everyone will benefit once they get this done. Just think, I could bike from Manchester to Willimantic, fuel up at The Main Street Cafe, then burn it off on the trip back.

It's a conspiracy by the historical society. As people use their lot to park for the trail since the bridge is out right there, they'll get more visitors. LOL.

Daily Horoscope for December 31

Aries

Someone wants to go their own way today and they won't care whose feathers they ruffle in the process. It's a lunar eclipse at the Full Moon in Cancer, so let them get on with it. The last thing you should do now is to hang on to their coat-tails or do anything else that will make them feel restricted. Make it plain that you've got your own fish to fry, thank you very much. And try not to let it stop you enjoying yourself. Have a great night!
