With so much bedrock-solid Florida History-with-a-Capital-H on their side, one wonders why the good citizens of White Springs troubled themselves to adopt that carpetbagger Stephen Foster.

Monday, May 20, marked the grand opening of the Ahmoglee Okalee Park in the town of White Springs, as a host of local dignitaries, county officials and town residents gathered for a ceremonious ribbon cutting.

The 61st Florida Folk Festival will be held Memorial Day weekend Friday, May 24 through Sunday, May 26 at the Stephen Foster Folk Culture Center State Park in White Springs.

The historic Camp Family Schoolhouse was moved to its new location beside the White Springs Public Library-PotashCorp Building at 16403 Jewett Street on Wednesday, May 8. Previously, the schoolhouse sat across the street from the historic Camp family mansion on the corner of US 41 just north of the Stephen Foster Folk Culture Center State Park.
