Gulf District Schools generally scored at or above state averages on this year's performance on the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test .

While cutting people and jobs was painful, Superintendent of Schools Jim Norton said Tuesday, he was proud of where staff had ended with the recent Reduction in Force.

Gulf County Senior Citizens, located at 120 Library Drive in Port St. Joe, is asking for donations of non-perishable foods for our low-income seniors such as juice, canned tuna & chicken, soup or vegetables.

After declaring a Reduction in Force at its last regular meeting, the Gulf County School Board stated that no layoffs would take place until the budget for 2013-14 school had been completed.

As a result the Health Department announced last week that it would transition its primary care health services at its Wewahitchka facility to Sacred Heart Hospital on the Gulf.

In the three years since the opening of Sacred Heart Hospital on the Gulf, 124 volunteers have donated over 31,500 hours, equal to $697,479 in time value.
