Arrest in week-old central Ohio school threat

Police in suburban Columbus have arrested a high school student following a threat of a school shooting scrawled on a school bathroom wall a week ago. Police in Westerville say they used video camera footage, more than 60 student interviews and reviews of handwriting samples to identify a suspect.

Westerville student charged in school shooting threat

A Westerville high school student suspected of writing a shooting threat on a bathroom wall last week was arrested this morning. Westerville police said the unnamed Westerville High School South student was charged with a delinquency felony count of inducing panic and was taken to the Franklin County Juvenile Detention Center.

NGWREF funds research on electrochemically enhanced bioremediation of groundwater

The National Ground Water Research and Educational Foundation has awarded a grant to Daqian Jiang, Ph.D., of the University of Minnesota, for a research project on the bioremediation of groundwater. Jiang will receive $8,000 for his project, "Electrochemically Enhanced Bioremediation for Attenuation of Arsenic, Nitrate, and Emerging Contaminants in Groundwater," which addresses a key priority area of NGWREF - the research of emerging contaminants and the development of remediation technologies that can be used to address current and new pollutants.

Residents of the Villas at Northstar in Westerville have sued builder Romanelli & Hughes, alleging that shoddy construction has allowed water into the condominiums. The problems affect all 74 condominiums in the complex, said Kevin Fields, a partner in Kaman & Cusimano, the law firm representing the owners.
