Honeymoon suite held forgery operation, police say

Officers responded to the suite at the Super 8 Motel, located at 180 Hospital Drive , after hotel management reported the registered guests had stayed past checkout time, according to the Price City Police Department. The incident occurred on Aug. 8. "Officers entered the room with Jimenez and allegedly discovered numerous suspicious items consistent with a sophisticated forgery operation in plain view," a statement from police reads.

Police shooting of armed robbery suspect ruled justified

The shooting of an armed robbery suspect by two Utah law enforcement officers during a high-speed chase in July was justified, the Salt Lake County District Attorney's Office said in a report released Wednesday. Officers Shawn Bias of the West Valley City Police Department and Dustin Olzack of the Unified Police Department "reasonably believed that deadly force was necessary" to defend themselves and others when they shot at Ramon Silvestre Franco, who allegedly admitted that he had fired three or four shots in the air as he fled from the officers.

Police here are investigating two burglaries that appear to be related where one home was trashed and another was spray painted Thursday afternoon.
