Payton Pritchard rated nation's 37th-best prospect in updated Scout rankings

West Linn junior Payton Pritchard already has two state titles and a 6A state player of the year award , but one of the major accomplishments that has eluded him thus far is the honor of being rated a five-star prospect. He'll have to wait a little longer it appears, as Pritchard was listed by Scout.com as the country's 37th-best Class of 2016 basketball prospect on its updated Top 100 - just nine spots shy of a five-star distinction.

Home and garden vendors, nurseries, demonstrations, activities for kids and tours will highlight the Art and Garden Gala Saturday at the McLean House and Park -- located on the banks of the Willamette River. The Friends of McLean House will host the fundraiser from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the three-story, 17-room house built in 1927 by Dr. Edward McLean for his wife, Anne, and their five children.

The West Linn-Wilsonville Education Foundation's 2013-14 fundraising efforts recently received an unexpected boost from an unusual source. A $130,000 check foundation representatives handed to the school board at its Aug. 4 meeting was bolstered by a $10,000 donation received in April from a couple that doesn't even live in the district.

Darren Karr, a former Republican gubernatorial candidate and West Linn resident, filed a lawsuit Aug. 29 in U.S. District Court against Oregon Gov. John Kitzhaber and Secretary of State Kate Brown. The lawsuit alleges that Karr's civil rights were violated when he was not included in the Oregon voters' pamphlet, and that the secretary of state's office was 'negligent, published inaccurate information, caused voter confusion and damaged his chance of winning the Republican gubernatorial nomination.'

'Supermoon' photographer's equipment triggers grass fire in West Linn

A photographer shooting the supermoon Monday night suffered an equipment malfunction that lit a nasty half-acre grass fire near West Linn High School . Alisa Cour, Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue spokeswoman, said firefighters were dispatched to the high school at 8:48 p.m. after neighbors called 911.
