Two landlords from Bradford and Johnson have settled with the Vermont Attorney General's Office for violations of the state's lead law, Attorney General's officials said on Friday.

How should towns nominate their town officer candidates?

That was the question posed in last week's edition in a story from Fairlee as some community members seek to change the nomination process in that town. In Fairlee, candidates for a selectboard seat and other officer positions are nominated from the floor at March town meeting. Shortly after nominations are offered, a vote on the candidates takes place.

It's a question that is a valid one, not just in Fairlee, but for many towns throughout Vermont as well. Bradford, Groton, Ryegate and Topsham all elect officers in a similar manner, while Corinth, Newbury, Thetford, Vershire and West Fairlee elect theirs by Australian ballot.
