Voters cast ballots in favor of issues
Although the front of the gymnasium building at Pierce City High School is changing this week with the addition of a music and fine arts wing, covering the south door, shown above, additional construction was nixed by voters who did not provide a four-sevenths majority for the $3.9 million bond issue on yesterday's ballot.
Wentworth man draws probation in assault case
A Wentworth man pleaded guilty Friday to a reduced charge of resisting of arrest and was assessed a suspended sentence.
Nine people were injured in several area traffic wrecks since last Friday. The Missouri State Highway Patrol issued the following reports: A Monett man was hurt in a one-vehicle crash at 3:10 a.m. Saturday four miles south of Monett on Barry County Farm Road 2050.
Three Monett teens hurt in crash
A high-speed crash in Newton County left one Monett man seriously injured and two other Monett residents with injuries Friday night, according to the Missouri Highway Patrol.
Mount Vernon rider injured in accident
A motorcycle rider from Mount Vernon suffered serious injuries in a Wednesday afternoon crash about a mile and a half west of Pierce City, according to a report from the Missouri Highway Patrol.
