The pecan capital of Texas will once again hold the title for the world's largest pecan.

Officials are investigating an incident on a Seguin Independent School District bus in which there might have been sexual contact between two young children.

While some students may want summer break to last longer, teachers are ready to get back to the classroom.

There was good news and not-so-good news for local school districts on Friday. The Texas Education Agency released its annual accountability ratings, which gave Marion ISD an overall rating of Academically Unacceptable, Navarro ISD a rating of Academically Acceptable and Seguin ISD a rating of Recognized.

Story was inducted into the Texas 6-Man Hall of Fame. Newcastle's Donald Story didn't go into the coaching business for personal accolades.

Joseph Luther Toliver, Jr., 85, of Haskell passed away Sunday, June 28, 2009. Services will be held at 10 am, Tuesday, June 30, 2009 at Cornerstone Fellowship Baptist Church in Haskell with Brother Morris Johnson and Brother Troy Culpepper officiating.
