Our Humane Society building is joke to begin with. But what can you except from out county they can not even open up the pools for the kids here in town..But back to the Humane Society,$144,000 and they still ask for people to bring in food for the animals to eat.
They just hired a man from Fla to be they animal control office and then 2 weeks ago the state shut the Humane Society down. I believe it is suppose to be open now? But our Humane Society can only do cats and dogs, They can not do horses, cows, and exotic animals, The whole place is a health hazard when you walk into it. I mean we are the only ones around the area that has something. I believe every county should have a Humane Society to control there animal population. We are better off now than the people who used to run the place 2 years ago thou in my opinion, But as I keep up with all this it seems we are just going around in circles and where is all this money going to??? a $144.000 dollars is nothing to sneeze at! Plus they have Volunteers that work there. But someone needs to be held accountable for this place and for there budget and there actions there. In the grand scale $144.000 is not really that much for a Government. Agency but it is a lot when no one is controlling it. So what are our options at this point??? |

There are plenty of people in Ware County that could assist the Humane Society and help get it to a proper standard. Nowhere have I ever seen a shelter that looks like this. But in general, Southerners don't care about animals....they just discard them to outside pens and take the stray cats in to be euthanized. They don't prioritize animals. They look the other way and hope "everyone else" will do something. Certainly there are enough people who can volunteer time, resources etc... Bags of food is not a big deal. They need a proper facility, proper fundraising, and citizens that can care just like they seem to care while they are getting their pictures taken in the Waycross Herald for all of the concern they show through social organizations such as the "garden clubs" and the "service league." You have to ask who is the service to ????? "Bless the beasts and the children. For in this life, they have no choice." These communities around here should be ashamed of the reckless condition they leave animals in.

People around here volunteer to help animals?? Please! They will not even volunteer to help people. I have been volunteer in two places around two for 5 years and and for 4 years we have been trying to get people to help us in our places and in the hundreds of letters we send out every years we are lucky if we get one person to come and help us.. Southerners??? I take it you are not from the south? I have travled in 48 states and people treat animals the same (like trash) and worse in all the states that I have been in and lived in. When times get bad like now animals are the first throwed away sad to say no matter where you live. |
