HERE WE go again. Yet another S.C. Republican politician is grandstanding on an all-important issue in an effort to gain clout by opposing President Obama.

WASHINGTON -- South Carolina Sen. Jim DeMint's lawyer is contacting television stations about a Democratic ad criticizing him on health care.

Sen. Jim DeMint, R-S.C., says it's time to "put the brakes on" President Barack Obama, saying he is advocating too much government spending and a ballooning federal deficit.

President Obama has been calling out his opponents in the fight over health care, and he quoted South Carolina's own Senator Jim DeMint.
