Wasilla man dead in officer-involved shooting

Wasilla police shot and killed a 23-year-old man after responding to a possible domestic disturbance on the city's western edge early Monday morning, an agency spokesman said. The incident began when two officers responded to a 911 disconnect from a home on North Jack Nicklaus Drive in the Mission Hills subdivision just after midnight, Officer Rick Manrique said.

A self-described free-market think tank that publishes the earnings of thousands of public employees in Alaska is not so open when it comes to disclosing its financial supporters -- including the conservative Outside group that has funneled large grants its way. One of the values of the Alaska Policy Forum is not disclosing donors, but the source of its limited money is less important than the group's focus on transparency in government, fiscal accountability and school reform, said David Boyle, executive director.

Florida man arrested for stalking Bristol Palin

A 25-year-old Florida man who showed up in Bristol Palin's Wasilla driveway Sunday evening after climbing off a third-floor balcony was arrested on felony stalking charges, court documents show. Palin recognized Peter P.W. Ferrero's name right away because he's sent her "approximately 1,000 Facebook messages," according to a sworn affidavit accompanying the charges from Wasilla police officer Brandon Gray.

Wasilla VA Clinic Without Doctors

Verdie Bowen, director of the state's Office of Veterans Affairs, says the Wasilla clinic's doctors, who worked under contract this summer, have decided not to renew. The clinic is supposed to have two doctors on staff at all times, but the Wasilla clinic has used one doctor and a nurse practitioner, while a third, temporary doctor rotates in and out.

The Alaska Court of Appeals last week denied an appeal filed by Frank Rich, the Willow man who had about 170 neglected huskies seized by the Matanuska-Susitna Borough in 2011. Authorities responding to a complaint in January 2011 found at least 19 dead dogs at Rich's Montana Creek kennel.

Veterans Administration Medical Professionals Shortage - Wasilla Alaska?

There's an infamous 'Poser Patriot' political grifter that lives there and actually was a less then half term governor of that State, spending most of that time running in the lower 48 for the VP nomination. The Veterans Affairs clinic in Wasilla is without doctors, after the three physicians working under contract over the summer decided not to renew those. A nurse practitioner, who transferred from Anchorage last week, now has to carry the 1,000-patient caseload.
