Mahoning engineer looks to help Washingtonville
Mahoning County dispensed with its chip and seal program 16 years ago, but newly-elected County Engineer Patrick Ginnetti told village council Monday he wants to resurrect it and implement additional "job share" programs to help villages and townships handle constantly increasing road maintenance costs.
Mr. Zimmerman was born Feb. 25, 1927, in East Palestine, a son of Warren and Grace Westover Zimmerman, and had lived in this area all of his life.

Police hoping auto thieves take the bait
With a rash of auto thefts in the area, Salem Township Constable Dan Valentine obtained access to a bait car that has been placed around the township for the past few weeks.
The male wanted to see him after work. He was told to contact the police if a problem comes up.
Park sees way to link bike trail to Ohio River
The Columbiana County Park District has come up with a way to extend the bicycle trail to the Ohio River, but it will require some riding on roadways and permission to cross state lands.

Mayor Will Jones said the cleanup ordinance is working but Councilman Jim Smith said they they needed to get the "bank-owned houses" cleaned up during Monday's council meeting.
