Curriculum plan has reading list
The State Board of Education on Thursday will consider a new curriculum for English language arts and reading in Texas public schools.
One major difference between the proposed standards and the current curriculum is that the new one includes suggested reading materials, a guide of literary works for teachers to use in the classroom.
The board may also consider a separate reading list -- used by Massachusetts schools -- of hundreds of titles, poets, authors and books of the Bible.
