Former Knox County Jail guard arrested after allegedly threatening to shoot wife

A 61-year-old former Knox County Jail guard, who was awaiting trial for allegedly sexually assaulting female inmates, is behind bars again after being charged with threatening to shoot his wife. Richard S. Wellington was arrested Thursday night and charged by Thomaston police with domestic violence terrorizing and violating a condition of release.

Judge to alleged stalker: Don't go down that road

A former Warren woman was given a completely suspended 365-day jail term Friday after admitting to harassing her ex-husband, entering his residence without permission on two occasions, and repeatedly violating terms of her bail. In addition to being required to continue counseling as part of the plea, Christine Starrett, 53, who now lives in Lakeville, is prohibited from being on the Western Road in Warren where her former husband lives.

Major Rockland employer inks deal to convert to trucked-in natural gas

Boston-based Xpress Natural Gas has landed a contract to truck compressed natural gas to FMC BioPolymer in Rockland, where the major regional employer is preparing to change its primary fuel source this fall to save on energy costs and reduce emissions. FMC, a multinational company that in Rockland processes seaweed into carrageenan, is an anchor customer for the natural gas distributor that bills itself as a stepping stone and alternative to piped gas for industrial and commercial customers.
