40 Days of Summer a success
The 40 Days of Summer program at the Thomaston Public Library came to a close Aug. 15, with the bang of a colorful pinata exploding and the cheers of a dozen children as they scooped candy into their shirt-fronts.

Wayfaring Strangers play Elm Street Grille
Rose & The Wayfaring Strangers will play Tuesday, Aug. 26, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at Elm Street Grille, 115 Elm St./Route 1. The group's style of music ranges from Alan Jackson, George Jones, Patsy Cline and Linda Ronstadt to Merle Haggard, with a little bluegrass gospel thrown in for good measure.

The sound of metal scraping and the "oohs" and "aahs" from the crowd permeated the grounds at the 55th Maine Wild Blueberry Festival and 145th Union Fair last week, which meant fans from near and far were in town to take in the celebrated and popular demolition derby.
