Senate panel advances bill on ferry workers' pay
A provision that dates back decades allows differentials to be paid to employees living in Alaska, as opposed to those living out of state, with the minimum salary based on Seattle's cost of living.

Mat-Su fields new offers to buy ferry as officials press for grant relief
The Mat-Su Borough's port director is quietly negotiating two new offers to buy the idled ferry M/V Susitna even as other officials plan to try to convince the federal government to let them off the hook for $12 million in ferry-linked grant obligations.

Give the Borough Assembly a treat. The Assembly unanimously approved a lease this week with the Ketchikan Dog Park, giving the group access to borough property near the corner of Ward Lake and Revilla roads at a cost of $10 over 10 years.
