Prisoner wants to represent himself in murder case

A 35-year-old Maine State Prison inmate indicted for murder and attempted murder for the stabbing death of a fellow inmate and conspiring to kill a corrections officer, wants to represent himself in court proceedings. Richard Stahursky, also known as Richard Clements, wrote in a letter to the court he did not want court-appointed attorney Christopher MacClean of Camden representing him because, he claimed, MacClean violated an agreement they had when he did not allow Stahursky to represent himself.

State police locate SUV involved in Durham pursuit; driver charged

A sport utility vehicle involved in a police chase last week was located in Durham on Friday and the alleged driver charged, police said. The purple Chevrolet Tracker was found behind a home on the Leighton Road, according to Department of Public Safety spokesman Stephen McCausland.

Master Gardener Volunteer training begins Oct. 2

The University of Maine Cooperative Extension Master Gardener Volunteer training will be held for residents in Knox, Lincoln and Waldo counties on Thursdays, Oct. 2 to Nov. 20, from 5 to 8 p.m. After a winter break, training continues from March 26 through April 30, followed by spring workshops chosen by participants. Class locations will be at the Knox-Lincoln Extension office in Waldoboro and some may be at the Waldo Extension office in Waldo.
