I can't understand why Mr. Long would make such accusations against his fellow drivers. Most companies have their computer systems disabled when the vehicle is in motion. If Mr. Long works for a company that does not block their system from being used while in motion it would be Mr. Long's responsibility as a professional driver to get off the road before he operates it. His interview is being used as a propoganda piece against his industry and fellow drivers by Advocates for Highway and Auto Safety with the ultimate goal of taking any possible distractions away from drivers. Try driving in your car to California with no radio, no phone, no food, no drinks, etc. and see how quickly you will become fatigued. Then on the return trip drive as you usually do then report back as to how long it took you to struggle to keep going. When will Advocates for Highway safety acknowledge that trucking is safer now than at any time in history? They will always have an issue to latch onto, or they will lose their funding and have to get real jobs.
