Wet conditions have lowered the fire danger and prompted the Department of Natural Resources to lift burning restrictions in all or parts of 32 Minnesota counties.

The calendar says Saturday is the Minnesota fishing opener, but Mother Nature has offered up a different schedule this spring, and that means anglers and businesses that cater to them will have to adjust.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation Thursday announced the recipients of $3.8 million in federal grants for Safe Routes to School.

Stearns County was among 13 counties added to those that will have burning restrictions starting Monday.

Mills was one of four recipients recognized for the 2013 awards. Mills, Brainerd, who graduated summa cum laude in 1997 from the university with a bachelor of business administration degree was awarded the university's Alumni Achievement Award.
