I watched from the top of the tower inside what Vinton visitors to Riverside Park call "The Castle" during the annual Easter Egg Hunt, and was amazed at how many children sprinted right past a bright blue egg without apparently noticing it.

Grass fire spreads, destroys farm buildings north of Vinton

Firefighters from the Vinton, Brandon, Cedar-Mount Auburn and Canton-Shellsburg departments, with assistance from the Iowa DNR and the U.S. Forestry service, battled a grass fire that quickly spread, destroying some farm buildings and equipment, and burning several fields to the north and east.
