Drinking and driving will never change. It will always be a danger in this area. Many of these teens that were out this party will be shook up., but the vast majority will continue the cycle. The teens in this story PROBABLY got their alcohol from a friend. Good luck finding out who... Teen drinking is too acceptable in our society. Teens dont drink with the goal of having a nice evening with friends. They drink with the goal of getting as inebriated as possible. Only a select few will have a designated driver. the rest will decide who is the least impaired, and they are the one that will hold the fate of their passengers.

They have the mindset of "Ill be ok. Nothing will happen to me. "

These are the facts people. Something needs to be done. Someone needs to show some responsibility... Whether that be parents, alcohol suppliers, or the teens themselves

Brooke, it does not matter where they were coming from or going! All that matters is that first they were drinking and driving and second of all underage. As a parent, we can not always watch our children but we can teach them right from wrong. These youngsters need a good lesson in right from wrong. It seems that they got that lesson the hard way. Now they should be punished to the fullest extent of the law as furthering the lesson!

Oh Okay, thank you for reporting what went wrong. I will get everyone to stop wearing their seatbelts. You are in a nice spot to be talking about a seatbelt law!
This comes from a drunk teenager that chose to get into a vehicle with another DRUNK ass teen at the wheel at 3m!!! What does your word or opinion mean here? yeah we pray too. i pray everynight that my son will not make any of these stupid choices or that friends would not let him!

Why punish these kids! They will have to live with the mistake for the rest of the their lifes. Who supplied the alcohol? Someone 21 years or old
purchased it. Don't blame kids for an ADULTS decision.

Why punish them?? because they BROKE THE LAW. so its okay for an adult to drink and drive and not be punished because of this theory that he/she will have to live with the mistake?

OMG!! What kind of "parent" are you? Must be one of the parents who didn't know where their child was at 3 a.m. If these kids are adult enough to make the adult decision of consuming alcohol and then getting behind the wheel, then they should be able to face the consequences when they make improper decisions such as drinking and driving. We are not talking about 10 year old children here. These kids are all 16-18 and should be able to face the consequences. Right, someone bought it and/or sold it, but who shoved it down their throats?!?!? Were they forced to drink it? Did one of them not have a cell phone to call home and ask for a ride? Life is all about decisions, actions, and consequences!! If they are not held accountable for the decisions that they make, they will continue to make poor decisions; therefore continuing the cycle.

Ha! How quiet they get when they realize we are not stupid asses!!
You know alcohol drugs, it does not matter. If they want it they can get it!!!! Don't act stupid like someone forced this upon them. If your child is not able to make choices and pay for their choices then they should be home at 3am.
Sorry, I don't buy it! I know where my children are. And I know they will F up sooner or later. And when they spend the night with friends the other parents know that I demand to know where they are and what time they come home.
This could have easily been one of my teens. But if they were lucky enough to survive this I would be beating the shit out of them and not saying someone else is to blame.

I pray for the quickmental and physical recovery of these children.

But I must ask what kind of example do we set during the Alumni Softball turnament? This is a school saponsered function and is obeviously supported by the church. Yet I see so many young people get so drunk that they can not function. Then we cry if there is a werck. Bad parents and bad school exasmple. It is time for Ville Platte to get away from the "Iam a drunken party town" and mose on.

Our children are what we teach them to be or allow them to grow into.

God bless them!
amen

mixing drinking and operation of a vehicle, any kind, car/truck/4wheeler/motorcycle/ boat is extremly dangerous and always will be.
your life can end, or change in a split second.
you can kill for cripple for life, yourself or
someone you love, in a split second. everyone
needs to really think about this. it happens every day. 50,000 killed every year, half because
of alcohol was involved. you or someone you love
gone in a split second!

Does anyone believe that the driver should be charged with vehicular homicide?
Everyone that I state my opinion to DISAGREES with this, stating that he shouldn't because Cade willing got into the vehicle knowing the driver was drunk.
What does everyone else think?

You pay for your wrong doings. It a no win situation but, I agree, he should be charged.
there is no soubt in my mind that the heartless trooper that worked the wreck and the Sheriff of St. Landry Parish will see that he gets charged.

Bobby Guidroz would not miss out on a press release of this magnatude at anybody's expense.
