Bennington, 60, Marshfield, went out of control at the intersection of Saint Joseph Avenue and West Arnold Street. Bennington was transported to Saint Joseph's Hospital where she was treated and released. * At 1:25 p.m. Tuesday, a pickup driven by Stacy D. Indermuehle, 34, Wisconsin Rapids, and a pickup driven by Codie S. Merkes, 17, Wisconsin Rapids, collided at the intersection of Highway 54 and Chestnut Street. Indermuehle and her passenger, Sue L. Oliver, 36, Wisconsin Rapids, were both transported to Riverview Hospital where they were treated and released. * At 9:55 a.m. Tuesday, a car driven by Angela M. Richmond, 19, Wisconsin Rapids, struck the rear of a car driven by Stella M. Boyles, 88, Wisconsin Rapids, on Grand Avenue East, near Eighth Street South. The following people were sentenced to jail, had their driver's licenses revoked, were fined and ordered to undergo an alcohol assessment for drunken driving: * Adam N. Heiman, 24, Marshfield; five days in jail with work release, 12-month revocation and $894. * Erik R. Haugen, 35, Marshfield; 10 days in jail with work release, 12-month revocation and $894. * Trisa L. Vilbaum, 35, Vesper, was placed on six months of probation and ordered to pay $171 plus $291.69 restitution and to undergo any counseling deemed necessary for issuing a worthless check. * Roger A. Robinson, 38, Wisconsin Rapids, was sentenced to five days already served, placed on two years of probation and ordered to pay $206 plus $3,994.24 restitution and to have no contact with his victim for criminal damage to property and disorderly conduct. * April L. Gaede, 23, Lublin, was placed on one year of probation and ordered to pay $229.50 plus $26.85 restitution and to undergo any counseling deemed necessary for misdemeanor theft. The charge was reduced from a felony charge of passing a forged check. * David C. Chabez, 34, Wisconsin Rapids, was ordered to pay $637 for misdemeanor battery and disorderly conduct. * Troy A. Burdue, 45, Milwaukee, was sentenced to 60 days in jail with work release and credit for four days already served, had his driver's license revoked six months and was ordered to pay $728 for operating a motor vehicle with a revoked driver's license. * Leticia L. Jordan, 30, Milwaukee, was ordered to pay $350 for obstructing an officer. * Elizabeth A. Hyde, 39, Wisconsin Rapids, was ordered to pay $387 for disorderly conduct as a domestic abuse incident and repeat offender.

Hemmer, both of Arpin, July 19. * Laura J. Steckel, 23, Wisconsin Rapids, was ordered to pay $539 for possession of marijuana. The record will be erased if the fine is paid within two weeks. A charge of possession of drug paraphernalia was dismissed. * Rebecca E. Guden, 17, Vesper, was ordered to pay $287 for retail theft. The record will be erased if the fine is paid within 60 days. * James M. Johnson, 47, Wisconsin Rapids, was placed on 13 months of probation and ordered to pay $322 plus $31.61 restitution and maintain absolute sobriety for two counts of misdemeanor theft. A charge of misdemeanor bail jumping was dismissed.

Vesper school to introduce project-centered curriculum
While students are barely settling into summer vacation, a collection of Vesper teachers is preparing for the fall.
10 YEARS AGO: The board of directors of Felker Brothers Corp. has elected Tom Henke of Vesper to the position of executive vice-president and chief operating officer. He has been employed by Felkers since 1985. The ground breaking ceremony was held June 11 at the construction site in Wildwood Park, for the new Wildwood Station pavilion, marking the beginning of construction on the new year-round park building designed to house some of the many activities held in the park each year. 25 YEARS AGO: The Rev. Kevin L. Wenker gave the topic 'Life After Death,' at the Friday afternoon meeting of the Ladies Aid Society of Christ Lutheran Church in Chili. Mrs. Lyle Doehr was hostess. Guests welcomed were Mrs. Rita Bieneck and Mrs. Lucien Moh. 50 YEARS AGO: The Board of Education of Auburndale Union High School announced June 17 the appointment of Robert Hubert as supervising principal of the 1958-1959 scholastic year. In addition to his administrative duties, he will serve as athletic director and football coach. 75 YEARS AGO: Children of Marshfield are cautioned by the police department to refrain from creating disturbances in Columbia Park during band concerts. 'Band concerts are for the entertainment of citizens and under no circumstances will disturbances be tolerated,' Chief of Police William Paape declared today.
